Many families who need counseling cannot afford the full cost of the services they receive. For this reason and in keeping with our commitment that no one will be turned away, LFS charges counseling fees on a sliding scale. This scale is based on the family's income and size of household. Most insurance plans, Medicare and Title XIX also are accepted.

Pregnancy counseling is provided at no charge to the birth mother, birth father or their families.

For domestic and special needs adoptions, fees are based on a sliding scale determined by the couple's income. Fees for international adoption vary based on the child's country of origin.

Fees for support groups, family life education programs and support for professional church workers vary from program to program. An effort is made, however, to make programs affordable and accessible to all people.

The affordability of the LFS services is made possible through the financial partnership of thousands of individuals across Iowa, the Lutheran Church -- Missouri Synod congregations in Iowa, corporate gifts and grants from foundations. Without their support, this ministry and fee structure would not be possible.
